Earthquake Update
1990’s BUILDINGS (AVALON/ALPINE LOUNGE & RESTAURANT)
The club received the engineering report on the 17 August this year, this report covered the 1990s buildings which we have been trading from since our reopen in March 2011. Due to structural weaknesses discovered in this building the club was forced to close as of 18 August until such time as the building could be repaired. To date we are still waiting for confirmation that the specified repair work drawn up by our engineers Lewis & Barrow is compliant before this work can be sent out for tender. At this stage it is unlikely that the club will reopen before February of next year but any further developments will be reported in future updates.
1950”S AND 70’S BUILDINGS DEMOLITION
Frews contactors have won the tender for the demolition of these buildings and they have been on site since 5 November. A twelve week time frame has been set to demolish these buildings and should see completion in late January or early February 2013. The areas that fall under the scope of this demolition include, members bar, pool room, squash courts and lounge, rifle range, social hall, library and old restaurant.
REBUILDING
At this stage we do have options in the form of basic preliminary drawings as to the possible design of the new rebuild. However until such time as the outcome of the 1990’s buildings has been confirmed it is difficult to pre-empt anything of a more permanent nature, again any further developments will be reported in future updates.

UPDATE ON RED ZONED CLUB BUILDINGS AND ENGINEERS REPORT

(HAPPIER DAYS- Photo taken December 2008)
I received an email on Tuesday 31 January from Lewis & Barrow who are our structural engineers.
Their report due in mid January that would decide the outcome of the Clubs damaged areas has now been put back until the end of March. The engineer has requested that four CPT tests be carried out in the vacant billiard room site before he completes his report. The CPT tests involve bores made to a depth of 20 meters so that the condition of the soils can be determined. These tests are expected to be completed within the next three weeks. When further information comes to hand you will be notified.
